The Aging in Place program supports seniors in OCH communities – helping to keep residents healthy and happy at home – and they have some good news to share. They will be expanding to offer on-site services at eight new locations! The new locations are:

  • 181 Bruyère
  • 263 Viewmount
  • 721 Chapel
  • 205 Gladstone
  • 300 Lacasse
  • 1650 Walkley
  • 1909 Russell
  • 280 Montfort

Jennifer Lalonde, the Executive Director of Ottawa West Community Support (OWCS), which operates the Aging in Place program, said the funding from Ontario’s Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care was confirmed in March. Direct services to tenants will follow shortly, however, it will take some time to hire new staff and outfit the offices in the new locations.

Each new site is an OCH senior building and is already familiar with OWCS through the former Health Connections/Healthy Community (food chop, community kitchen) Program and the current Active at Home (yoga and MASC) program.

Once up and running at the new locations, AIP will offer:

  • On-site access to a part-time social worker and foot care clinics
  • Service referral and coordination as well as assistance in filling out forms
  • Short-term homemaking service and emergency meals and transportation
  • Health education, events and classes
  • Van Outings
  • Occupational therapy assessments and physical therapy visits

This programming is already available at 160 Charlotte St, 1455 Clementine Blvd, 865 Gladstone Ave, 616 Kirkwood Ave,
31 McEwen Ave, 445 Richmond Rd, 280 Rochester St, 395 Somerset St, 800 St. Laurent Blvd, 540 Thomson Ave and 1041 Wellington St W.
